Psychologist's tips: how to tackle depression

Lighter evenings and warmer days may be associated with joy for many. But many also experience heavier emotions.

- You shouldn't stress yourself out because it can make things worse," says David Waskuri, psychologist at Sveapsykologerna.

Spring depression is a so-called seasonal depression. This means that symptoms appear at the same time every year.

Torbjörn Åkerstedt, professor emeritus at the Stress Research Institute, has previously told SVT that research shows that 15% of the population in Sweden feel down in the spring.

The symptoms required to be classified as care depression

According to David Waskuri, for it to be considered depression, you must have had recurrent symptoms for at least two years. They must also last for at least two weeks.

- If you find everything boring, feel depressed, are tired and don't enjoy the things you usually do, it could be a case of depression," he says.
