Psychodynamic therapy Gothenburg

Psychodynamic therapy is a form that aims to find the root of the problems and discomforts that a person experiences. By gaining an understanding of oneself and one's way of reacting and acting on emotions and situations, one tries to minimize the present-day problems that have their basis in past experiences. This is perhaps the most classic form of therapy that many people think of when we talk about therapy, but there are many more variations and methods. 

CBT, cognitive behavioral therapy

CBT is about changing thought patterns and the way you act here and now. Here, too, there are elements of creating an understanding of oneself, one's thoughts and actions. But CBT focuses more on changing negative thought patterns and behaviors in the present, instead of going in depth about experiences in history.  

MI, motivational talk

Research has shown that confrontation during therapy has the opposite effect on, for example, addictive behaviors. The shame people feel instead causes the abuse to increase. Motivational talks, on the other hand, have a positive effect. It all boils down to the fact that the person who wants to change a behavior gets to immerse himself in what positive effects a changed behavior has. The goal is to strengthen the inner will to achieve a change, when the will has become strong enough, the change in behavior comes.

ACT Gothenburg

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, ACT, is usually used to help people who have difficulty with change and who are close to feeling anxious. Great focus is placed on finding ways to be present and to accept one's feelings and thoughts, without starting to criticize oneself and judge one's thoughts and feelings.

Existential therapy Gothenburg

In existential therapy, you see that each person has basic conditions that we cannot influence, but also that we have choices where we have full control. Existential therapy focuses on finding a person's core values and helping them understand them, in order to then make life choices that harmonize with those values. By living in harmony with our own values, we feel better than if we constantly go against them due to outside influences. 

Mindfulness

This is a form of therapy that is inspired by Zen Buddhism and which counts as third wave CBT. In mindfulness, one focuses on distinguishing between one's observing self and one's thinking self, with the goal of making conscious choices instead of letting life just carry one forward.
